Writing For Film Making
Danny stack delivered a fantastic workshop on how to write a script for TV. Danny is a freelance scriptwriter and has many credits under his belt including Eastenders and The Octonauts.
The participants really engaged with what Danny was saying, he made it relevant to an emerging scriptwriter and as some this is what they desire to be.

Sat 23rd Nov Documentary Techniques
The group first started to storyboard their ideas for the 15 sec sting. Some have yet to find an idea where as others are beginning to animate with the idea already been storyboarded up.
Don came in late morning to give the group an introduction to documantarty tecniques. He went through the definition of fact, where do storys originate from, is fact trustworthy etc.
He then finished his workshop by placing some objects onto a table and the group needed to design a character by only using the objects, for example there was an old black and white photo, a champagne cork, a set of pad lock keys. Why was this person carrying them? What was there character?
The group was then able to animate for a couple of hours and we then finished off the day with an arts award surgery session.
Ewen's Life of the cell animation created during this session.

Animation Techniques Session 16th Nov
The group was first introduced to student mentor Sam Gainsborough who also helped and guided the students through the animation process.
In the first hour I explained all the different animation techniques showing examples along the way. We looked at traditional animation - Hand-drawn, Cell, Silhouette,
We looked at Stopmotion animation/Rotoscope/2D and 3D
The students then ran free and experimented with any of the above techniques that they wished:)
An exceptionally high standard of work was created which is very encouraging:)
In the afternoon Dr D started the group on the Sliver Arts Award. each member created a blog and started work on Unit1 part D - their strengths and weaknesses. Some also managed a visit to the WTH exhibition to write and evidence some material from the artist Jane Wilson.
Some work created on the 16th Nov is shown below:

Opening Weekend
Great opening weekend with everyone turning up and showing a strong interest.
Samantha Moore was fab at energizing the group and teaching them the principles of animation. From gathering an idea and turning it into a short film.
After lunch the group were split into 3 small groups and everyone created a pixelation animation.
